Head count

Okay, you lurking lovers of literature, I've had just about enough of this dead airspace. Chime in, count off, post a poem, send a photo, submit a recipe--I don't care, just let us all know you're alive out there. Howzabout some updates, y'all?

I'll jump in:

work- interesting. I'm not teaching this semester. Currently subbing at the Writing Center front desk, which is great because I loved being on staff here in the fall, but it's also a bit nerve-wracking (because it's a temp thing).

writing- is coming around again. I have a few new poems in the works and actually sent out some work for the first time in about a year. Also collaborating with a few poets, which I love to do.

home- Randy and I are quilting a lot. (Check my blog for pix of Randy working on a sawtooth quilt.) Sadie & Allie are fine. We had strange warm weather for a few days and I got antsy about the garden; we drove down to Lowe's and wandered through their (sad) garden department looking at (wilted) houseplants; R bought a thistle feeder to hang outside the laundry room and I bought mesclun and arugula seeds to start under lights indoors.

travel- no plans to go anywhere, alas. But if anyone is coming through the 'Burg, please let me know! And y'all make sure to fill up on fajitas while you're in Austin. And stop at Half Price Books on Guadalupe. And breakfast at Las Manitas. I'll stop now; I suddenly miss Austin sooo much . . .

Stadler stuff- Carol Frost arrived this weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting her soon. West Branch is chugging along and we're reading a ton of submissions. E-mailed fiction has leveled off--not sure why--but I'm still hoping to get us up to 50% by the next fall (reading fiction on my laptop has been an easy transition, but I do find that if a story really grabs me, I still want to print it out for re-reading).

news- my new chapbook should be out this week. See my blog for an announcement as soon as I get my copies (again, should be this week).

All from me for now. Hope to hear from all you Mouseketeers soon.

Salad Fingre

Have you seen Hubert Cumberdale's Shack?

BTW: Who's going to AWP this year?
